Pneumatic Conveying in the Sugar Industry
For decades, OGA has specialized in pneumatic conveying systems for the sugar industry, specifically for the efficient handling of sugar in sugar mills. Our approach focuses on analyzing and optimizing every critical aspect of system design, ensuring precise control of variables such as speed and product concentration throughout the pipelines. With thorough validations in real operations and multiple installations worldwide, we guarantee effective and efficient solutions in every implementation. (AM & CV).
The increasing regulation in food production has raised quality and safety standards. In response, OGA has developed enclosed pneumatic conveying systems that comply with international standards such as GMP, HACCP, ISO, and FSSC 22000. These systems replace conventional methods, enhancing product integrity and maintaining a cleaner production environment.
Impact of Speed on Product Conveying
A major challenge in the sugar industry when implementing pneumatic conveying is ensuring that product handling does not compromise its physical properties. Our OGA systems are designed to mitigate these risks by precisely managing each variable to preserve the product’s essential characteristics.

Route Flexibility
Unlike conventional conveyors, our systems enable versatile routes, combining vertical and horizontal sections within a single pipeline equipped with long-radius bends.

Sealed Conveying:
Our fully enclosed systems eliminate cross-contamination and preserve product integrity, complying with standards such as HACCP, GMP, and FSSC 22000.

Low Maintenance Costs:
By minimizing moving parts, our systems reduce maintenance costs while ensuring reliability and operational stability.

Multiple Destination Routes:
With a single conveying pipeline, our systems can easily expand diversion routes, adapting to various production needs.

Control Software:
Our systems include integrated software for automated process management and traceability, optimizing plant operation and supervision.

Custom Design:
We customize each system to meet the unique specifications of each plant, ensuring efficiency and ongoing adaptability.
Typical Applications in the Sugar Industry
The primary application of OGA pneumatic conveying systems is in the handling of finished products, typically from the discharge of dryers to storage and/or conditioning silos, and subsequently transporting to packaging lines. With our systems, the final product is completely protected to prevent deterioration and/or contamination. Although the handling of dense-phase systems is usually done in batches, OGA has developed the Z2 series systems, where material input and discharge are continuous, achieving distances of over 200 meters and flows exceeding 100 tons per hour.
Additionally, all OGA pneumatic conveying systems are equipped with a sequence of pressure air filters that sequentially remove moisture, particles, oil, and odors from the compressed air, achieving retention of particles as small as 0.001 microns.
