Design and manufacturing of pneumatic conveying systems for the powdered milk industry
Pneumatic Conveying Systems
OGA has specialized in handling delicate materials such as powdered milk, where the material handling system is designed according to the product type, prioritizing the preservation of its physical characteristics, particularly granulometry, which is crucial in this type of process. Additionally, OGA offers transportation systems for powdered milk gassing, ensuring a gassing system with an oxygen residual below 1% at the delivery point to the packaging machines.
Currently, OGA has successfully implemented this type of system in the largest powdered milk drying companies in Colombia, Argentina, and Brazil, achieving applications of up to 15 tons per hour per system and transportation distances of up to 126 meters horizontally.
One of the key factors highlighted in our applications is the high level of oxidation prevention during product transportation. For this reason, the main projects have been carried out using dense-phase conveying, ensuring minimal air involvement in the process as a crucial measure to prevent product oxidation.
In gassing systems, material movement is achieved through the implementation of an inert gas that transports the material through the pipeline over medium and long distances. This ensures that the milk retains its properties and does not degrade due to air exposure.
Typical Uses and Applications:
Manufacturing of dairy consumer products such as yogurt, cheese, ice cream, butter, chocolate, cookies, baby food, and soluble mixes.
Intervention in Powdered Milk Industry Processes

Application 01
Pneumatic Conveying Process of
Drying to silo storage.

Application 02
Pneumatic Conveying from Storage Silos to Packaging Machines.

Application 03
Pneumatic conveying of powdered milk and micro-ingredients (maltodextrin, pre-mix, flavorings) to mixers.

Application 04
Pneumatic conveying of powdered milk
in dairy derivative industries (yogurt, cheese, chocolate, ice cream, etc.) to various production processes.
Industrial Intervention
Industrial intervention in this type of industry typically takes place in the areas of dryers, vibro-fluidizers, and Big Bag or sack unloading. From this point, pneumatic conveying systems transport the material to storage silos or specific equipment within the production process. In the case of gassing systems, the intervention occurs specifically at the packaging stage.
OGA has developed the technical and operational expertise over the years to intervene in processes for handling whole milk powder, skimmed milk powder, whey powder, dairy derivatives, non-allergenic minor components, and allergenic minor components, according to application requirements. Additionally, we offer specialized equipment for pulverizing and drying tasks, adaptable to each industry. Furthermore, our developments are complemented by weight control systems for silos and process machines, along with SCADA systems that enable real-time production monitoring. These allow for local or remote supervision, control, and oversight of the production process.
